Future Satellites
Building for the future

As part of SES’ ambitious fleet expansion program, SES NEW SKIES has placed orders for three new satellites to be built and launched from 2009 to 2010.

The first up for launch was NSS-9 at 183° East, which was successfully launched on February 12, 2009.  NSS-9 replaces NSS-5 and brings new, high powered C-band capacity, specially designed for the Pacific Ocean Region.

NSS-12, currently under construction, is also planned for launch in 2009 and will be a hybrid Ku- and C-band satellite serving the Indian Ocean Region. The satellite will reinforce the strong neighborhood at 57° East across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia offering four times more power and more than twice the capacity of NSS-703.

Launching into the 338° East position in 2010 will be NSS-14, which will be the largest satellite in the SES NEW SKIES fleet, and enhances what is already the largest neighborhood in the Atlantic.
