NSS-9 at 183° East will be a replacement satellite for NSS-5, featuring three C-band beams ideal for government users, broadcasters, carriers and the maritime industry.
NSS-9 is expected to be launched in late 2008. The satellite will carry 44 active C-band transponders and feature three beams that can be interconnected on a transponder-by-transponder basis. A global beam providing coverage of the entire earth visible from 183 degrees East, a West Hemi beam covering Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, China, Korea and the Pacific Islands, and an East Hemi beam providing coverage and connectivity to the U.S., Hawaii and Polynesia.
The new satellite will build upon the success of NSS-5, which currently serves a wide range of users including broadcasters, government users, carriers across the Pacific Islands and from the maritime industry.
